Every thinning and texturising shear we carry — filter by tooth count, cut rate and tooth form to find your blend.
Thinning shears
Blend and soften weight lines. Higher tooth counts (35–46) at a low cut rate for near-invisible blending.
Texturising shears
Carve movement and remove bulk. Wider-gap, lower-tooth blades (14–28) for chunking and separation.
Cutting & thinning sets
A thinner matched to its partner cutting blade — coordinated pairs at better value than buying separately.
Left-handed thinners
True left-grind blades built for left-handed professionals — not reversed, so the blend sits clean.

Why professionals choose ThinningScissors.com.au
We do one thing: thinning and texturising shears. That focus lets us be exact about what actually changes a result — tooth count, tooth form (U-groove versus V-form), cut rate, and how the blade behaves on real hair. Every page states the numbers, and every recommendation comes with an honest decision rule and the trade-off. Japanese steel — VG-10, ATS-314, cobalt — described as plain fact, so you can match the right thinner to any density, texture or technique.
What stylists & barbers say
"I keep a 40-tooth blender and a 28-tooth on the station now. The blender softens a graduation without leaving channel lines; the 28 takes real weight out of thick hair in two passes."
Renee Halloran
Senior Stylist, The Cutting Room, Melbourne
"Blending balayage regrowth used to drag. A high-tooth U-groove thinner at a low cut rate feathers it out with no demarcation line — exactly what I needed after a colour."
Sophie Tran
Colourist, Lumen Hair Co, Sydney
"Standardising the team on the right tooth counts cut our re-dos. The product pages list cut rate and tooth form, so I knew what I was buying for each chair."
Daniel Esposito
Salon Owner, Esposito & Co, Brisbane

FAQ
What is ThinningScissors.com.au?
We are Australia's specialist store for thinning and texturising shears. We cover one category and go deep — tooth geometry, cut ratios, blend-versus-bulk, and how each blade behaves on real hair — so you can match the right shear to any density, texture or technique. Free shipping Australia-wide.
Which brands do you carry?
We stock thinners, texturisers and cutting-and-thinning sets from Ichiro, Juntetsu, Mina, Kamisori, Joewell, Yasaka and Kasho. Every product page lists the steel, tooth count, cut rate and tooth form so you can compare like for like.
What's the difference between thinning and texturising?
It comes down to tooth count and cut rate. A higher tooth count (35–46) with a low cut rate blends and softens weight lines almost invisibly; a lower tooth count (14–28) with wider gaps removes bulk and carves movement and separation. Most of our shears state both numbers so you can predict the result before you cut.
How do I choose the right thinning shear?
Start from the job. Fine hair and seamless blending want a 35-plus-tooth U-groove blender at a low cut rate; thick or coarse hair wants a 20–30-tooth blade to take real weight out; chunking and texture want a wide-tooth texturiser. Our guides give you the decision rules, and the Thinning Finder narrows it down in a minute.
Do you sell single thinners and sets?
Both. You'll find standalone thinning and texturising shears as well as matched cutting-and-thinning sets that pair a blade with a coordinated thinner at better value than buying separately. Left-handed builds are available across much of the range.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — free standard shipping on all orders Australia-wide, dispatched within 1–2 business days. Express shipping is available at checkout.
